Box pouches for an artisanal coffee roastery

For Vera Miftari (owner of Coffee Goddess), having her own coffee brand had always been a dream. In 2023, she took the leap. Realizing the packaging for the coffee beans was one of the many challenges of setting up the business. With a pure love for coffee, Vera created several unique blends as the foundation of Coffee Goddess's product line. Additionally, they offer single origins by country. All coffee beans are available in two sizes of stand-up pouches, which are hand-filled after roasting. The personal care and attention put into the products had to be reflected in the packaging.

Sustainable and Reclosable Box Pouches for Coffee

As a new entrepreneur, Coffee Goddess aimed to be future-focused and make the right packaging choices from the start. Initially, a more traditional foil packaging was considered. However, given the ethically sourced coffee beans, the logical choice, following DaklaPack's advice, was a sustainable packaging solution that optimally protects the contents.

Vera: “I wanted to offer beautiful, high-quality products that satisfy customers—not just the coffee, but also the packaging, which should preserve freshness and enhance shelf life. Its appearance complements our premium line and creates an experience for consumers. That's why the Coffee Goddess packaging reflects the product inside.”

The freshness of the coffee beans is ensured by a sturdy zipper closure, a sealed top with an easy-to-remove header, and a one-way valve that only allows air to escape. Thanks to the reclosable feature, Coffee Goddess customers can store their coffee beans properly and enjoy them for longer. This choice was intentional—every coffee moment is special, and the beans shouldn’t need to be consumed all at once.

The box pouch features custom foil printing in soft colors and is made of recyclable mono-material. It exudes a luxurious appearance. After removing the one-way valve, made of hard plastic and a small piece of metal, the bag can be disposed of with plastic waste for recycling.

By asking many questions, we identified what the customer needed. Our innovation team created samples, making the final product more tangible. Additionally, I connected Vera with two other companies in my network to help further develop her product line.”

Box Pouches: The Perfect Packaging Solution

Box pouches are an excellent packaging option for dry goods such as coffee, tea, muesli, superfoods, and protein powder. Their flat base and side gussets maximize the bag's volume without taking up extra space. This design is ideal for a sturdy and professional presentation on shelves or flat surfaces. Additionally, the side gussets provide ample room for extra information or branding elements to enhance the package's appeal.

Vera shared her insights:
“Choosing whether or not to include text on the packaging was a deliberate decision. Our packages feature a label with a QR code that directs customers to our website for additional information. This allows us to share everything about our specialty coffee beans—where they come from, how they are processed, their coffee type, and variety. Traceability is incredibly important to us.”
