The Sustainable Partnership Between Keune and DaklaPack
With over a century of experience producing premium haircare products for professionals, Keune boasts an impressive legacy. While their six-year collaboration with DaklaPack may seem brief in comparison, it feels like a long-standing and trusted partnership. This journey began with the production of pouches for Keune’s keratin products and has since flourished.
In 2021, Keune approached DaklaPack with a special request: the development of sustainable refill packaging for their revamped "So Pure" line. DaklaPack enthusiastically embraced the challenge, and much like the products themselves, the process was seamless and pure. Senior Buyer Sandra shared insights into this collaboration, from the initial concept to the final product.
A Green Packaging Solution
The result? A stunning matte olive-green spout bag that integrates perfectly with Keune's original dispenser. Each spout bag features a removable sticker, which can be placed on the dispenser to identify the product inside. Although the final result might seem straightforward, it was the culmination of extensive brainstorming and exploration of various ideas and options.
The desire for a quick launch and eco-friendly packaging led to the selection of DaklaPack’s refill pouches. These pouches are a sustainable alternative to traditional packaging, reducing waste and enabling more efficient shipping by maximizing the number of products per box. As both Keune and DaklaPack prioritize sustainability, they remain committed to continually optimizing both the packaging and its production process to further reduce their environmental footprint.
Collaborating Around the Drawing Board
The decision to use our refill pouches was just the beginning. A packaging solution requires careful development, which led us to the drawing board together. Choosing a robust material allowed us to determine the precise length, height, and width for the pouches. The result? Two sizes: a 400 ml and a 1-liter pouch.
Adjusting the exact proportions proved to be a challenging task. However, after a lengthy technical process, we not only developed the packaging in the ideal format but also perfectly matched the color of the pouch to Keune's self-produced dispenser. This attention to detail ensured a cohesive and premium final product.
